We nave completed what we Methodists call Annual Conference, which concludes with the Bishop making pastoral appointments to the churches.
Nancy Allen and I have again been appointed to serve St. Matthew and Eastern Hills. We are grateful, for we continue to dream dreams and watch them come true as God leads us in the joyful work of serving these two churches. The work goes well. But the parking lot at St. Matthew doesn't. Actually, we have two parking areas, one we call "the new parking lot," and one the "old." The old is an historic monument, untouched since installation years ago. We joke that it competes with Glenrose for what looks like dinosaur tracks. It has been in bad shape for 20 years, and was further deteriorated Church by the heavy trucks when we built the great addition to the sanctuary in 1992. But this old parking lot is about to be re-paved and extended. And to finance this - we are selling the house!
Not the church house. We are selling the parsonage house - which has not been used as a parsonage since I came to St. Matthew quite a few years ago. So - are you looking for an investment? Well, my friend, please consider the house at 7221 Nosilla - just west of Rosehill Cemetery. We will be taking sealed bids, with the minimum bid at $30,000. We want to get the house sold and start work on the parking lot. The house is a great "fixer-upper," and can make a good home for somebody, or a great investment for someone who wants to fix it up and sell it. (The work is primarily cosmetic.) We will be having "open house" this Saturday, July 3, 9:00 to 12:00, and the next Saturday also, July 10, same hours. Mail bids before Wednesday, July 14 to:
St. Matthew United Methodist Bids will be opened at the conclusion of the Gospel Concert on Sunday evening, July 18. The concert starts at 6:00. (We will announce the amount of the high bid, but not the names of any bidders. We will privately contact the high bidder.) Excuse me now. I've got to find someone to pour a parking lot! |
